Family members of the Indore couple on Tuesday demanded for a central bureau of investigation (CBI) probe into the death of Raja Raghuvanshi, whose highly decomposed body was found from a deep gorge at Weisawdong falls after he along with his wife went missing while on a honeymoon to Meghalaya’s famous tourist destination – Sohra.

“We strongly demand investigation by the CBI into the case,” said Vipin, who is the brother of (L) Raja Raghuvanshi, while speaking to media persons at NEIGRIHMS.

“This is beccause the local police here are not agreeing that there is a foul play but if there is no foul play then why would there be a dead body? His (Raja) body was found 25 kilometers away from where the vehicle (a rented scooty) was parked. Therefore, we highly suspected that they were kidnapped (and taken to Weisawdong falls),” he said while waiting for the post mortem examination to be completed before taking the body of his brother to Indore.

Vipin also said that it is not possible for his brother and his wife to commit suicide because the place – from where his body was recovered – has proper boundary.

He however said local police are not agreeing to the family’s allegation that it was a case of kidnapping, looting and murder.

“Both were wearing gold. Two finger rings, a gold chain, bracelet, purse, mobile were missing from the body (of Raja). If it is suicide all these things will not go missing,” the brother of the deceased argued.

The family had filed a missing report on May 23.

Vipin further urged the state authorities to ensure his sister in law Sonam is brought back alive.

Asked, he said, “There is no angle of enmity. They were married on May 11 and they were happy.”
