    Two former senior Mahila Congress leaders have been entrusted with the mantle to lead the first-ever women’s wing of the Trinamool Congress Party in Meghalaya under the name of the Mahila Pradesh Trinamool Congress Committee (MPTCC).

    The constitution of the women or Mahila Committee was notified on Tuesday by Meghalaya Pradesh Trinamool Congress Committee President Charles Pyngrope, who is also the MLA of Nongthymmai Assembly Constituency.

    The Party took the decision to come up with the Mahila Committee so that they will be able to address the issues pertaining to the women in the state, which are ignored by the MDA Govt.

    The party including women workers pledges to bring change to the collapsing system.

    According to the party notification Selma D Shira who quits from the post of Vice President of Meghalaya Pradesh Mahila Congress Committee was appointed as the first President of the Mahila Committee.

    Further, June Eliana R Marak who is the wife of former Meghalaya Minister Late Clement Marak was appointed as one of the three Vice Presidents while the other two are Mehalin S Marak and Kathleen Marbaniang.

    Merilline Ch Marak and Noorun Mehraj Warjri was given the task of general secretaries besides Clarabell Rynjah as treasurer.

    The party has appointed six joint secretaries namely Pedolline N Sangma, Merida Malngiang, Mitimai Basaiamoit, Alpha Mary Tiewla, Linda D. Marak and Mimosha R. Marak.

    Besides five executive members namely Agirtha Nongrum, laishah Rymbai, Ribahun Kharbani, Ibalashimti Lamare and Rinu Kharbudnah.
