    United Democratic Party (UDP) leader and former Nongthymmai legislator Jemino Mawthoh has lodged an FIR against social media users for spreading false information against him.

    Mawthoh in his complaint submitted to the SP (City) Vivek Syiem on Saturday said that certain individuals had posted his photograph along with three others with the caption “coke factories in Shallang under control by these fantastic four”.

    “This is a serious allegation concocted with malicious intention of character assassination.

    What is worrisome is that the news which is fallacious is being spread in the social media and all kinds of negative reactions have come from the public,” he said.

    Stating that he is aware of the pranks in social media, Mawthoh however said,”the seriousness of this kind of allegation has prompted me to lodge the FIR so that such elements will not continue to spread false information in future.”
