    Former chief secretary PS Thangkhiew has been appointed as the chairman of the Meghalaya Farmers Empowerment Commission.

    His appointment was approved during a meeting of the state Cabinet chaired by chief minister Conrad K Sangma on Tuesday, following the resignation of the former chairman of the commission.

    “The earlier chairman had resigned on personal grounds and hence, the post was vacant and so there was a committee that was set up and this committee has proposed the name of former chief secretary PS Thangkhiew (and accordingly) the cabinet has approved his appointment and his name for the post of chairman of the Meghalaya Farmers Empowerment Commission.
