Ex-bureaucrat gets Chairman Tura Municipal Board post

In latest political appeasement, the NPP led MDA Government appointed NPP West Garo Hills top brass leader Dr. J D Sangma as Chairman of the Tura Municipal Board.

According to notification Dated Shillong, the 24th May, 2023. No. UA U.7/2023/21, in pursuance of sub-section (I)(b) of section 299 0f the Meghalaya Municipal Act, 1973 (the Assam Municipal Act, 1956 as adopted by Meghalaya), the Governor of Meghalaya appoint Dr. J.D. Sangma as Chairman of Tura Municipal Board with perks and facilities category C’.

Under category C, an appointed person is entitled to Rs 6,000 per month as honorarium witn Rs 5000 per month for conveyance. An appointed person will be provided Free medical treatment outside the state as recommended by the DHS (MI). Further, one grade 4 peon can also appointed in office and the TA/DA subject to a maximum of Rs 5,000 per month for the local tours only.
