In a significant outreach move, the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC), Regional Office Guwahati, held a special event on Wednesday to distribute Permanent Disability Benefits to insured individuals and Dependent Benefits to families of deceased workers across the Northeast.

The program, aimed at reinforcing social security for the region’s working population, was chaired by Pranay Sinha, Insurance Commissioner for the Northeast Region. He was joined by Regional Director Robert L. Guite, Deputy Director Yogesh Prakash, and other senior ESIC officials. Beneficiaries, employer representatives, and media members also attended the event.

During the ceremony, Sinha personally handed over benefit letters to eligible recipients. He highlighted ESIC’s recent initiatives in the region, including the rollout of the ESI Scheme in Manipur and Nagaland, the setup of new DCBOs and camp offices in all Northeastern states, and collaborative efforts with local governments to enhance healthcare access.

He also outlined ESIC’s roadmap for further strengthening its coverage and service delivery in the Northeast, with a focus on ensuring timely, accessible support for workers and their families.

Several beneficiaries spoke at the event, expressing deep gratitude for ESIC’s assistance during difficult times. Employers, including representatives from CG Foods Limited, praised the scheme for supporting employee welfare, especially during medical emergencies. They also acknowledged ESIC’s proactive steps, such as conducting health check-ups and awareness drives at workplaces.

The event marked a reaffirmation of ESIC’s commitment to ensuring that workers and their families in the Northeast are not left behind in the nation’s social security framework.
