Errant Star Cement truck driver arrested for death of Lumshnong resident

The Meghalaya Police have arrested the driver of the truck involved in the death of a local resident of Lumshnong thereby leading to the burning of 15 trucks of Star Cement by an angry mob on May 18.

Police said that the driver of the said Sailangmi Dkhar (resident of Khliehtyrshi, West Jaintia Hills District) was arrested on May 20 this year and booked under relevant provisions of the laws. Dkhar was produced in the local court and subsequently remanded to judicial custody.

Dkhar, a driver of one of the trucks owned by Star Cement killed Sngewbha Suchiang after Dkhar ran over him with the said truck after an incident of road rage between Dkhar and Suchiang a driver of a Mahindra Pick Up Vehicle.
