Deputy Chief Minister in-charge Home (Police) Prestone Tynsong has directed the Director General of Police (DGP) to ensure law and order is maintained during the election campaigns of political parties for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, to be held on April 19.

“We have instructed the DGP as well as SPs and DCs of all districts that they should be proactive in view of the election campaigning for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections to be held on April 19, to ensure law and order is maintained,” Tynsong told reporters.

He said the instruction was given following the recent incidents, which are not good as people are trying to disturb political campaigns of other political parties, contesting the Lok Sabha elections.

“Therefore, we have given stern instruction to the DGP and all district administrations will take note of this and monitor the situation of each and every political campaign. This is what we have done to ensure peaceful elections,” Tynsong said.

“I hope that the political campaigns will be held peacefully without any untoward incidents,” he added.
