Electrifying Meghalaya: A new campaign sparks an e-Vehicle revolution

A campaign to tap into electric vehicle sector called electrifying Meghalaya will be initiated and collaborated with Barefoot Trust and other educational institutions.
The Alliance for an Energy Efficient Economy (AEEE) has joined hands with Barefoot Trust, North Eastern Hill University, Women’s College, St. Anthony’s College, and Don Bosco Technical School in a strategic collaboration.
Addressing a press conference, Bidhudatta Sahu from Barefoot Trust said, “People can come, see the vehicles for themselves and take it for a test drive. Currently, the vehicles are in Laitumkhrah. We are looking at an opportunity to kick-start the whole energy efficiency sector and look at e-vehicles as a mode of change.”
He said that they are collaborating with Transport department, tourism and also a small proportion of STEMS (school buses) being converted to E-Vehicles.
To promote the e-vehicle sector, the AEEE and Barefoot trust have brought in collaborations with Morris Garage Motors to Shillong to showcase their vehicles as well as provide a hands-on technical demonstration of the vehicles.
A series of workshops called “electrifying Meghalaya: Exploring entrepreneurial innovations in electric mobility” held on August 21, 23, and 24.
The workshop will also focus on the need for entrepreneurship in the EV Sector.
These workshops will equip students, policy-makers, entrepreneurs, and other interested individuals with in-depth knowledge about e-mobility and its multifaceted impact.
with the Electricity department in a sad state of affairs why bring all this in now,first give people 24/7 electricity and proper voltage then start all this, this new scheme will end up with the youth loosing money and frustrated.
