EKH police apprehends 2 suspects, recovered gold pendant

East Khasi Hills police have arrested two individuals, Kenny Kharmujat (24) and Subroto Baidya (32), both residents of Lumshyiap, Nongmynsong, in connection with a snatching case that occurred at Polo on July 16.
The suspects allegedly snatched a gold item from an unidentified person, suspected to be a drug user, and fled towards Police Bazar via Jail Road.
Acting on the information, a police team led by SI I Warjri, accompanied by UBC/AD Sangma and personnel from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), pursued and apprehended the suspects near the Kim Hyundai showroom, Golflinks at around 11:45 pm.
A gold pendant was recovered from the possession of Kenny Kharmujat.
Superintendent of Police H Kharkongor on Thursday appealed to citizens who may have recently been subjected to theft or lost gold ornaments under suspicious circumstances to come forward and file a formal complaint at the Sadar police station.
“This will enable the police to take appropriate action and facilitate the return of the recovered gold pendant to its rightful owner,” he said.
“East Khasi Hills police remains committed to swift, fair, and transparent enforcement of the law and urge citizens to assist in ensuring justice is delivered,” the SP added.
