    The district administration of East Khasi Hills on Thursday passed prohibitory order under section 144 CrPC to ensure peace, order and tranquillity during the counting of votes for the general elections to the Lok Sabha, which will be held on June 4.

    The order passed by the district magistrate SC Sadhu prohibited procession and sloganeering of any kind shall not be allowed within the premises of the counting centre till completion of counting of votes and declaration of results.

    It also prohibited the use of P.A. System/loudspeakers and celebration by any political party or candidates shall not be allowed within the premises of the counting venue.

    Carrying of sticks either with or without flags, lathis, firearms, processions or big gatherings within a radius of one kilometre from the counting centre is also prohibited

    Bursting and throwing crackers on the roads and at public places is strictly prohibited on the day of counting.

    No victory procession/rallies by any candidate/political parties after the declaration of result shall be permissible within East Khasi Hills District.

    The order also said that not more than two persons shall be allowed to accompany the winning candidate or his/her authorized representative to receive the certificate of election from the Returning Officer concerned.

    In the premises of the Counting Hall, the following will apply: only persons with valid ID cards/Car Pass issued by the District Election Officer, East Khasi Hills District, shall be allowed to enter the premises, Mobile Phone and Cameras shall not be allowed to carry inside the counting hall.
