  • EGH police recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition hidden inside a jungle

    The special operation team of East Garo Hills police on Thursday unearthed a cache of arms and ammunitions buried in the jungle near Chibilbang village under Rongjeng police station.

    The recovered items include country made small arms, two nos 2 inch live mortar shells and 428 rounds of 7.62 live AK ammunition, district police chief SA Rynjah said.

    Acting on reliable source input, a special operation police team conducted operations in the Chibilbang village jungle under Rongjeng police station.

    The operation commenced at 10 pm on January 29 and at approximately 1 am on January 30, the team unearthed the arms and ammunition buried near a large tree in the suspected area.

    The recovered items were seized at the spot in the presence of independent witnesses. Further investigation is on, the SP said.
