The 32nd management committee meeting of the Extension Education Institute (EEI), Northeast Region, was held on May 30 under the chairmanship of Dr. B.C. Deka, Vice Chancellor of Assam Agricultural University (AAU), Jorhat.

    N. Selvam, Joint Director from the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, represented the Ministry and shared key updates on national agricultural extension initiatives. In his welcome address, Dr. Rajumoni Bordoloi, Director of EEI (NE Region), highlighted the Institute’s achievements and presented its progress report.

Attendees included Dr. R. Murugesan, Director of NIRD; T. Gohain, Registrar of AAU; K. Sharma, Comptroller; and Directors of SAMETIs (State Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institutes) from the Northeast. These included Dr. Rajib Bhuyan (Assam), Tina Mary Marak (Meghalaya), and Dr. M. Parte (Mizoram), among others.

EEI (NE Region), based in Guwahati and operating under the administrative control of AAU, serves as a key regional training hub. It is dedicated to building capacity among extension officers and agricultural functionaries across nine states: Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, Tripura, and West Bengal.

Dr. S. Borua presented the Institute’s Annual Progress Report, while Dr. C. Deka outlined the annual training calendar.

The committee discussed strategies to expand and improve the Institute’s activities, with a focus on ensuring that training benefits reach grassroots-level farming communities more effectively.
