The District Magistrate of East Khasi Hills, R.M. Kurbah, IAS, has issued an order under Section 163 BNSS prohibiting all Bulls’ Fight/Animals’ Fight within the district with immediate effect.

The order follows reports that there is rampant holding of Bulls’ Fight/Animals’ Fight, especially during fetes and other festivals in some areas of East Khasi Hills District. Allowing such activities would violate Section 11 of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960, and also contravene the Supreme Court of India’s 2014 judgement against bullfighting.

Any violation of this order shall be strictly dealt with as per legal provisions.
