  • East Khasi Hills District declared four dry days ahead of elections

    District Magistrate and District Election Officer, East Khasi Hills District Sibhi Chakravarthy Sadhu, IAS, has declared four dry days in the district.

    This is in exercise of his power conferred under Section 135 C of The Representation of The People Act, 1951.

    The dry days are April 17th, 18th and 19th, 2024 being the pre polling and polling days and June 4th, 2024, the counting day.

    During these dry days, the order sternly warns that no spirituous, fermented or intoxicating liquors or other substances of a like nature shall be sold, given or distributed at a hotel, eating house, tavern, shop or any other place, public or private, and within a polling area.
