    The Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills District has informed that gratuitous relief in the form of ex-gratia payment to families of deceased persons is applicable for all cases of persons deceased due to natural calamity, including those involved in relief operations or associated in preparedness activity, subject to certification regarding cause of death from the appropriate authority.

    In the press release issued today, the Deputy Commissioner said that ex- gratia payment of Rs. 4,00,000/- per deceased person will be paid by the Deputy Commissioner from the State Disaster Response Fund   (SDRF), adding that family/ next of kin of the people who have lost their lives during the recent natural calamities in East Khasi Hills District may approach  the  Office  of  the  Deputy  Commissioner,  East  Khasi  Hills  District  (DDMA)  for claiming of ex-gratia payment as admissible under the norms.
