  • East Jaintia Hills teachers unite against mandatory Ubiattendance app

    School teachers in East Jaintia Hills District on Sunday threatened to launch an agitation to oppose the implementation of the Ubiattendance app. They also criticized the district administration of East Jaintia Hills for issuing an order that teachers must mandatorily use the app.

    The decision was made at a joint meeting held between the Jaintia Hills Lower Primary School Teachers Association (JHLPSTA) Khliehriat Unit and Meghalaya SSA Schools Association (MSSASA), East Jaintia Hills District Unit.

    MSSASA president Aristotle C Rymbai said that the Deputy Commissioner of East Jaintia Hills on June 21 issued an order that all teachers who are receiving remuneration from the Government Meghalaya and Government of India and are teaching in Government SSA and Government aided schools for lower primary and upper primary students must mandatorily use attendance app for employees from July 1.

    Teachers demand Govt to discontinue the use of Ubiattendance app

    Following the order, the District Mission Coordinator SSA, East Jaintia Hills have issued notice to all cluster resources person as per instruction of the Deputy Commissioner, East Jaintia Hills District to conduct a training session on June 26 and 28 to train all the elementary school teachers on Ubiattendance app under the Govt., Govt. Aided and SSA.

    The two organisations met the Education Minister Rakkam A Sangma on June 23 to discuss their concerns on the implementation of Ubiattendance app.

    Aristotle stated that the Deputy Commissioner, East Jaintia Hills District implement the Ubiattandence app without the permission of the education department. The minister has directed the Director of School Education and Literacy to seek clarification and report from the Deputy Commissioner, East Jaintia on implementation of Ubiattendance app to track the attendance of teachers in East Jaintia Hills district.

    Aristotle further said “We are very clear with our stand and we will not attend the training on Ubiattendance app. We have resolved that teachers will continue not to use the website/app as a mark of protest and disagreement and if the deputy commissioner persists in implementation of the Ubiattendance website/app we will resort to agitation after the half yearly examination of students.”

      Fail to understand why only to the teachers in East Jaintia Hills. why not to all Government employees.
