In two separate incidents on April 13, the East Jaintia Hills Police made significant breakthroughs in their efforts to curb illegal activities in the district.

In one incident, vigilant police personnel intercepted a Bajaj Dominar 400 motorcycle (Registration No. AS 11 X 2819) at Nongsning under suspicious circumstances. The rider, identified as Bishal Riang (23), son of Ganga Jay Riang and a resident of Paloipunji T.E., Cachar District, Assam, was found carrying two backpacks. Upon inspection, 10 packets of suspected contraband substances were discovered.

A preliminary test confirmed the substance to be Marijuana (Ganja), with an estimated total weight of 10 kilograms. The contraband along with the motorcycle was seized on the spot. A criminal case has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and legal proceedings are underway.

In another incident, during routine mobile patrolling under the jurisdiction of Umkiang Public Protection Post (PPP), police personnel recovered three abandoned motorcycles by the roadside in the Dona area. All three bikes were found without number plates and are suspected to be stolen.

Details of the recovered motorcycles are as follows:

Royal Enfield Classic – Chassis No. ME3J3C5FKP2005107, Engine No. J3A5FKP2004699

Royal Enfield Hunter – Chassis No. ME3J3D5FMR1014560, Engine No. J3AFFMR1014818

Pulsar NS 125 – Chassis No. MD2B72BX4RPF6286, Engine No. JEXTRF62562

Investigation is underway in both cases. The East Jaintia Hills Police urge the public to come forward with any information regarding the ownership or recent movement of the recovered motorcycles.
