East Jaintia Hills hosts science seminar on potentials and challenges of quantum age

In a move to encourage research, innovation and confidence among students, the District School Education Officer (DSEO), East Jaintia Hills, organised a District Level Science Seminar on August 28, 2025, at Jaintia Eastern College, Khliehriat.

Centred on the theme “The Quantum Age Begins: Potentials and Challenges”, the seminar saw participation from eight schools across the district. Students presented on topics such as machine learning, secure communication, economic growth, and the complexities and risks of quantum technology, followed by interactive discussions with teachers.

At the conclusion, cash awards and certificates were presented. First prize went to Peter Arsalon Pyngrope (Khliehriat Higher Secondary School), second to Beneiah Gadiel Sutnga (Little Star Secondary School, Ladrymbai), and third to Bornah Rabha (Rymbai Government Secondary School).

Certificates were also awarded to participants from Sacred Heart Secondary School, Little Flower Secondary School, Sutnga RMSA Secondary School, Khliehriat Presbyterian Higher Secondary School, and Little Star Academy Secondary School.
