    The Deputy Commissioner, East Jaintia Hills District informs the general public that in compliance with the guidelines of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India and the order issued by the Government of Meghalaya, the activities that are also permitted in the East Jaintia Hills District with effect from the 3rd of June, 2020 are commercial and private establishments in rural areas which include all shops and tea stalls excluding those that are located along the National Highways. Whereas, in urban areas, all shops from fixed premises are permitted to open excluding barber shops, beauty parlours and salons. Further, restaurants, cafes, food outlets and tea shops are permitted for home delivery and take away services only. Permission has also been given for Inter – District Movement of persons.

    In addition, the public are requested to strictly, maintain social distancing, not to overcrowd in one area or shop, to wear mask and not to spit in public places. The public should cooperate with the arrangement made by the District Administration and District police. They should strictly follow all the directives and advisories issued by the Health and Family Welfare Department, Government of Meghalaya with reference to COVID-19 situation.
