    The 52nd Meghalaya Day was celebrated by the District Administration of East Jaintia Hills at the Conference Room of the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Khliehriat. The event was attended by Deputy Commissioner Abhilash Baranwal as the Chief Guest, along with Additional Deputy Commissioner G. Warjri, Assistant Commissioner F Wann, other district officials, traditional heads, teachers, and students.

    In his address as a Chief Guest at the programme, Deputy Commissioner, East Jaintia Hills District, A. Baranwal said that the state of Meghalaya being bestowed with ample natural resources and blessed with abundance has infinite potential while also impressing upon the gathering of government officials and members of the public to perform tasks assigned to them to the best of their capability notwithstanding the challenges that they encounter on a day to day basis.

    Meanwhile, Additional Deputy Commissioner, East Jaintia Hills District, G. Warjri in his speech dwelt at length about Meghalaya’s statehood movement even as he stated that Meghalaya Day serves as a reminder to all the citizens of Meghalaya to give their best in their respective capacities in the interest of progress and development of the state.

    Other highlights of the programme include cultural dances performed by students of Khliehriat Higher Secondary School and Rymbai Government Secondary School. It may be mentioned that every year, Meghalaya Day is observed on 21st January, however, the celebration this year was observed today on account of 21st January, 2024 being a Sunday.
