    Meghalaya proudly sees two of its football talents in India’s 23-member squad for the SAFF U17 Women’s Championship in Bhutan. Alisha Lyngdoh from East Jaintia Hills has been selected as a defender, while Bonifilia Shullai from Shillong will play as a midfielder.

    Alisha’s dedication and consistent hard work have paved her way to the national team, fulfilling her dream of representing India at the international level. The East Jaintia Hills District Football Association (EJHDFA) expressed immense pride in her achievement and wished her success, highlighting that her accomplishment brings recognition to the district.

    Taking to social media, Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma said: “So proud to see the names of two players from Meghalaya in the 23-member Indian National Squad for this year’s South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) U-17 Women’s Championship in Bhutan. Congratulations and best wishes to Bonifilia Shullai, Midfielder from Shillong and Alisha Lyngdoh, Defender from East Jaintia Hills. Let’s cheer for Team India!”

    The Indian squad for the tournament includes goalkeepers Munni, Surajmuni Kumari, and Tamphasana Devi Konjengbam; defenders Alena Devi Sarangthem, Alisha Lyngdoh, Binita Horo, Divyani Linda, Elizabed Lakra, Priya, Ritu Badaik, and Taniya Devi Tonambam; midfielders Abhista Basnett, Anita Dungdung, Bonifilia Shullai, Julan Nongmaithem, Pritika Barman, Shveta Rani, and Thandamoni Baskey; and forwards Anushka Kumari, Nira Chanu Longjam, Pearl Fernandes, and Valaina Jada Fernandes.
