    The Deputy Commissioner and Chairman District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), East Jaintia Hills District directed the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) on Thursday to address the deteriorating condition of the bridge along NH-6 at Pyrtakuna village under Lumshnong C&RD Block.

    The bridge is in bad shape with iron rods sticking out of the affected portion, posing an imminent danger to the general public.

    “In order to safeguard commuters, vehicles and general public commuting along the said National Highway from any untoward incident, the Project Director, National Highway Authority of India (NHAI), Meghalaya, Shillong had been directed to take immediate restorative measures in light of the critical importance of the said Bridge,” stated the advisory.

    The Deputy Commissioner & Chairman of DDMA, East Jaintia Hills District advised the general public, Commuters and Vehicles to take necessary precautions and to obey the traffic regulations while crossing through the said Bridge in order to avoid any untoward incident till completion of works by the concerned authorities.
