  • East Jaintia Hills admin declares six villages as containment areas

    The district administration of East Jaintia Hills has declared six villages as ‘containment areas’ to trace high risk contacts and to contain the spread of COVID-19 in the district.

    Unregulated entry and exit movement to the six villages including Khliehriat East, Khliehriat West, Dkhiah East, Deinchynrum, Sookilo and Mookympad, has been restricted from midnight of Tuesday till 6 am of July 25.

    The order issued by the district magistrate FM Dopth was based on the recommendation of the health department.

    The health department has reported that there are two new COVID-19 positive cases at Khliehriat East, Khliehriat West and one of the COVID-19 case travelled to and from Mookympad village to Khliehriat on daily basis.  

    The order said six villages has to be declared as containment areas to enable the contact tracing to be done to those who have in contact with the index cases and to conduct RT-PCR test to all high risk contacts as well as low risk contacts.

    “It is necessary to declare the entire Khliehriat East, Khliehriat West, Dkhiah East, Deinchynrum, Sookilo and Mookympad as containment areas so as to restrict unregulated entry and exit movement on site with the following measures for due compliance by the public w.e.f July 21 midnight to 6 am of July 25, in the interest and safety of public, to complete contact tracing of high risk contacts and low risk contacts as well as to contain any transmission of COVID-19,” Dopth said in his order.
