    On the occasion of World Consumer Rights Day, East Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner of Supply organized a one-day awareness program with the theme, “Alert and Responsible Consumers” at Bansamgre on 15 March.

    On the day, Jan N Arengh, Advocate, deliberated at length on Consumer Protection Act, 2019 and the Central Consumer Protection Authority and urged the people to be aware of their consumer rights.

    Raksang K Marak, Inspector, Legal Metrology, dwelling on the theme, stressed on the need to understand the importance of weights and measures, weighing and measuring tools and machines, etc. Tangme Ch Marak, Food Safety Officer, while speaking about Food Safety and Adulteration, also highlighted the ill-effects of packaged drinking water.

    Earlier, the welcome and introductory speech was delivered by the Sub- Inspector of Supply (SIS), SM Momin while the vote of thanks was proposed by Gerald TR Marak, SIS.
