    Jowai MLA Wailadmiki Shylla inaugurated the Conservancy Truck Shed, JCB and Refuse Compactor of Jowai Municipal Board, in Jowai Municipal Board Premises on Wednesday.

    The Conservancy Truck Shed was constructed under Grant in Aid Capital Asset 2020-2021, the JCB and Refuse Compactor under 15th Finance Commission 2020-2021and the CC Flooring under 14th Finance Commission 2020-2021. The total cost is Rs. 1, 13, 000, 00/- Rupees One Crore thirteen lakhs) only.

    In his inaugural speech, Wailadmiki Shylla lauded the Jowai Municipal Board for its exceptional service rendered during the COVID Pandemic period.

    He claimed that dust bins have been purchased and distributed to households to make it easier to segregate the biodegradable from non-biodegradable waste.

    Waste management is not complicated, Deputy Commissioner BS Sohliya, IAS said,” we only need to change our mindset and work collectively to achieve cleanliness.”

    Additional Deputy Commissioner and Chief Executive Officer, Jowai Municipal Board B.Blah lauded the ‘Keep Jowai Town Clean” Partners for working hand in hand with the Jowai Municipal Board in creating awareness amongst the public for segregation of waste.

    L. Lakiang, Chairman Jowai Municipal Board, Dr. Sankey Shangpung , Chairman JHADC also spoke on the occasion.

    The Partners “Keep Jowai Town Clean” –Society for Urban and Rural Empowerment, Young Minds Collective (YMC), Bharat Scout and Guide, Synjuk ki Waheh Shnong were facilitated with Mementos. Individual Certificates of appreciation were also given to Habandajop Lyngdoh, Society for Urban and Rural Empowerment, Young Mind Collective (YMC) Jowai, Bharat Scouts & Guides, Jowai and 17 participating schools where an awareness programme on segregation of wet and dry waste had been conducted.

    Dust Bins were also distributed to Schools and Colleges in Jowai Town.
