    All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) on Tuesday demanded the Assam government to trial the Dudhnoi gangrape and murder case in Fast Track Court.

    The Dudhnoi case of gang rape on the night of May 3 after the return from the Bwisagu function at Balapara village and thereafter on May 5 the villagers and VDP along with Hiranmoy Khaklari were attacked brutally with lethal in Tangabari village at the house of Dhan Ali Talukdar where entire family members Dhan’s elder brother Shekbar Ali, sister Permina Begum jointly attacked them, in this attack many of them have sustained serious injuries, subsequently the intent to murder has come to light after Hiranmoy Khaklari have sustained the brutality and passed away at GNRC Guwahati on May 16.

    In a tragic incident that took place on May 3, two teenage girls were allegedly gang-raped by three miscreants in the Dudhnoi area of Goalpara district. After committing the crime, the miscreants left the girls on the roadside. 

    The victim’s family lodged a complaint at the police station, leading to the arrest of the main accused, Dhan Talukdar, while the other two miscreants managed to flee but were later apprehended. 

    On May 5, a violent scuffle took place when a group associated with the Village Defence Party (VDP) tried to question Dhan Talukdar’s family at their residence, following which a clash ensued, resulting in injuries to six individuals, including Khakhlari, who sustained grievous injuries. 

    Following the incident, he was rushed to the hospital, and on May 16 he succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at GNRC Hospital in Guwahati.

    After the incident, police took immediate action and arrested the main accused’s brother-in-law, Shekabar Ali, and sister, Parbina Begum, on charges of murder.

    In a memorandum to DGP GP Singh, ABSU president Dipen Boro, vice president Kwrwmdao Wary, general secretary Khanindra Basumatary and assistant general secretary Dinesh Brahma demanded the highest punishment amounting to death by hanging till death under the penal laws of India to the accused rapist Dhan Ali Talukdar, Bahar Ali & Rahman Ali and their accomplish to murder of Hiranmoy Khaklari by Shekbar Ali and Permina Begum.”

    “The unruly criminals are again and again perpetrating the dignity and life of ordinary brothers and sisters in the state. About the case of gang rape and then the murder of the brother of victim girls by the accused criminals is very hard to mention,” the memorandum said. 

    The student body also demanded grant interim compensation of Rs 20 lakh, to the kin of Hiranmoy Khaklari and 5 lakh each to rape victims.

    “ABSU is hopeful under your dynamic leadership in the state such unruly criminals will not get a second chance to disturb society,” it added.
