The Drug Reduction, Elimination, and Action Mission (DREAM) of the state government has intensified its efforts to combat the pervasive drug menace by extending its outreach to the Garo Hills region.

The session witnessed active participation from key stakeholders, including the Superintendent of Police (SP) of West Garo Hills, the Additional Deputy Commissioner, the SP Traffic, the District Social Welfare Officer, Psychologists, Mental health professionals, Community leaders, Faith leaders, Nokmas, members of Village Development Councils (VDCs), and representatives from various non-governmental organizations (NGOs).
During the deliberations, Kharshiing, MD DREAM, emphasized the necessity of a multifaceted approach to address the drug crisis.
The key action points discussed included: Destigmatization of Drug Users: Promoting a compassionate and supportive environment for individuals affected by substance abuse, Utilization of Technology: Leveraging the QR code embedded in the DREAM calendar to facilitate access to rehabilitation centers and Vocational Training Initiatives: Implementing skill development programs to provide youth with employability and entrepreneurial opportunities, serving as a preventive measure against drug abuse.
