In a significant political development, Dr. Jemino Mawthoh has tendered his resignation from the United Democratic Party (UDP), stepping down both as a party member and from his current post as General Secretary with immediate effect.

In a letter addressed to UDP President Metbah Lyngdoh, Dr. Mawthoh cited “unavoidable circumstances” as the reason behind his decision. He stated that the move was a personal one and expressed gratitude to the party for the opportunities afforded to him over the years.

Dr. Mawthoh, who has served the UDP as a legislator, Working President since 2014, and General Secretary from 2016, acknowledged the support and cooperation of his fellow party members throughout his tenure.

Additionally, he has also resigned from his role as Honorary Adviser to the Planning, Investment Promotion and Sustainable Development Department, Government of Meghalaya.
