    In order to ensure free and fair MDC ‘s election in East Khasi Hills District, the District Magistrate East Khasi Hills District has imposed Section 163 of the BNSS in the entire district for implementing the model code of conduct and prevention of defacement of public and private properties by all contesting candidates or political parties.

    According to the order, no wall writing, pasting of posters/papers or defacement in any other form, or erecting/displaying of cutouts, hoardings, banners etc. shall be permitted on any public property/public premises.

    No Political Parties or Candidates will be allowed to put up banners on all roads/thoroughfares.

    No wall writing, pasting of posters/papers or defacement in any other form or erectin displaying of cutouts, hoardings, banners etc. shall be permitted on an private property, private walls without WRITTEN PERMISSION from the house-owners and final approval from the office of the undersigned.

    Carrying Rs 50,000 cash or above prohibited due to MDC election

    No Election meeting would be allowed without taking permission from the DC Office and subsequently local headmen regarding the venue of the meeting.

    No P.A. System will be allowed to be used between 10:00 P.M to 6:00 A.M. In case of P.A. System/Loud Speakers which are used without permission from the DC Office the same would be seized immediately by the local authorities.

    Section 163 BNSS order issued for deposition of arms and weapons

    No rallies and procession will be allowed without the permission from the DC’s office.

    This order will extend throughout the East Khasi Hills District. It will come into force with immediate effect and will remain in force till the Election process is over.
