The Dorbar Shnong Moolamylliang under Saipung C&RD Block, East Jaintia Hills District has opposed the move for creation of Umpleng Village out of Moolamylliang Village.

Defending their decision for opposing such a move, the Moolamylliang Waheh Shnong said since the inception of time, residential Certificate, No Objection Certificate etc., as may be required by the Government, Non-Government Authorities etc, are being issued by the village Dorbar for the best interest and the welfare of the people in the area.

He also said since time immemorial the area has been under the control of Moolamylliang village and any matter that pertained to the jurisdictional control of the area whether the district administration or police have always been in the lookout of their village, he added.

He also asserted till date there is no permanent resident in that area except for some commercial shops run by non-indigenous traders.

He also informed it clearly stated that for establishment of the village, the area shall have not less than 20 (Twenty) households and not less than 50 (Fifty) adult inhabitants.

The Waheh Shnong informed they submitted a petition to the Chief Executive Member, Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council, Jowai to look into the matter and take necessary action as per the existing rules and regulation of the council.
