    The District Magistrate informs the general public that in pursuance to the Government order andTransport Department, Government of Meghalaya Order, The maximum number of persons allowed to be carried by the different categories of public and private Transport in the District are as follows.

    For buses, the total capacity is 50 %. SUVs including Sumo and Maxi cab can carry only 4 (four) persons excluding the driver and for Light Motor Vehicle (LMV), only 2 (two) persons excluding the driver will be allowed. Furthermore, Auto rickshaws can carry only 1 (one) person excluding the driver as for  Two– wheeler, one pillion rider, restricted only to female or child below the age of 12 years.

    Violation of any norms and advisories of the Government in the Health & Family Welfare Department and the Office of the District Magistrate will be liable to action as per the Law.
