The second edition of the World Food India 2023, held in New Delhi, is a three-day program that promotes India as a global destination for food processing and related industries. This year’s event has a special focus on the richness of millets as a food source, aligning with the celebration of 2023 as the International Year of Millets. It aims to bring together the global food processing industry while highlighting India’s strengths in food production and processing to attract investment and collaborations in the food sector.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the event on November 3, emphasized the significance of the food sector for India’s growth and recognized its three key contributors: small farmers, small-scale industries and women-led development.

The program boasts a diverse lineup of speakers from various segments of the food industry, fostering discussions, sharing insights, and promoting collaboration.

Cabinet Minister, Government of Meghalaya Dr. Ampareen Lyngdoh while inaugurating Meghalaya Pavilion emphasized the event’s importance for progressive farmers and cooperative societies, acknowledging the support of the Government of Meghalaya and the Government of India. Meghalaya has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Lulu Group, with the backing of Apeda and the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, to promote agricultural products from Meghalaya in GCC countries. This collaboration is expected to boost the agricultural economy, facilitate knowledge exchange, and enhance market access for Meghalaya’s products.

The event also served as a platform to showcase a wide range of products from Meghalaya, featuring unique flavors like turmeric, jackfruit, ginger, and pineapple. It highlighted the rich agricultural diversity and the entrepreneurial spirit of local cooperative societies.

World Food India 2023 underscores the power of collaboration and a shared commitment to achieving food security and sustainable agriculture in India. With diverse voices, global participation, and the vibrant flavors from Meghalaya, the event spotlights our collective journey toward a brighter and more nourished future.
