District admin issues warning as water of Umiam Dam reaches 3205.75

Ri Bhoi district administration on Friday informed that the water from Umiam Dam may be released any time in case there is further rise in water level in the reservoir above the safe level.

The water level at Umiam dam is 3205.75 as at 8am on July 14.

A statement issued by the deputy commissioner said people staying downstream of Umiam dam are requested to be extra cautious and are advised not to venture into river/streams so as to avoid any unfortunate incident and to stay away from streams, drains, culverts, etc.

In case of flood, people should stay away from electric poles or power lines to avoid electrocution.
