    The Passing out Parade of 2nd Batch Armed Branch Recruit Constables was held on July 12 at 3rd MLP (1st IR) Battalion, Sahbsein, West Jaintia Hills District. Idashisha Nongrang, IPS, Director General of Police Meghalaya graced the programme as Chief Guest and took the ceremonial salute and also inspected the parade.

    Welcoming the new recruits to the Meghalaya Police, Idashisha Nongrang congratulated the cadets on completing their rigorous training. She reminded them that the challenges ahead will be manifold and the crucial role they will playing in their respective unit. She urged the cadets to remember the examplary conduct they displayed at the training centre. She encouraged them to carry this conduct throughout their service. 

    Nongrang handed trophies to the  winners in different discipline – Best in Arms handling to ABRC Lectush Sangma from West Garo Hills DEF Tura, best in firing to ABRC Tengsrang Sangma from East Garo Hills DEF, Williamnagar, best in B.P.E.T to ABRC Sumardeiakor Niang from West Garo Hills, Tura, Best in P.P.T to ABRC Jenggilbirth Ch. Marak from West Garo Hills, Tura, best exemplary conduct to ABRC Octoborn Talang from West Garo Hills, DEF, Tura and  overall rounder to ABRC Ynsateilang Kharsyntiew from East Khasi Hills, DEF, Shillong.

    The Commandant of the 3rd Battalion Vivekananda Rathore, IPS stated that the passing out parade marks a major milestone in the career of any police officer or subordinate ranks. He described it as a momentous and deeply gratifying occasion for all officers and members involved in the Unit.

    The Commandant lauded the discipline and commitment of the recruit constables, acknowledging with pride that there was not a single complaint received against any of the recruit constables or followers throughout the training course at the training center.

    He informed that this is the second batch of training held at the center, with the first conducted in 2014 which include 97 recruit constables from the 3rdBattalion and 6th Battalion. The current batch consist of 71 recruit constables from various unit and Districts including West Garo Hills DEF, East Khasi Hills DEF, East Garo Hills DEF, 1st Meghalaya Police Battalion, West Jaintia Hills DEF, Special Branch, CID, Ribhoi District, North Garo Hills DEF, South Garo Hills DEF along with one driver and Eight followers.
