    The District School Education Officer of West Jaintia Hills celebrated Teachers’ Day at the District Library Auditorium in Mynthong, Jowai on Tuesday.

    Deputy Chief Minister Sniawbhalang Dhar graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, while Jowai MLA Wailadmiki Shylla was the Guest of Honour, Deputy Commissioner BS Sohliya, IAS, and Superintendent of Police C Syrti, MPS, were also present.

    Deputy CM Sniawbhalang Dhar lauded the teachers for their selfless contribution to molding and shaping the students for all-round development. He appreciated the dedication of the teachers and acknowledged that despite lower salaries, teachers continue to serve and nurture their students. He encouraged the students to learn, be sincere with themselves, and aim high.

    He congratulated the district teacher awardees for their dedicated service and urged them to continue serving society. He also presented mementos and certificates to the awardees.

    In the Secondary Level, the district award was conferred upon Smt. Wanhok Lamar, Vice Principal of QC Springside Hr. Sec. School. At the Upper Primary Level, Shri Ohiwot Laloo, Assistant Teacher at Government Girls’ Higher Secondary School, Jowai, received the award. At the Lower Primary level, Smt. Hilarious Manner, Head Teacher of Umladkhur Government LP School, Khonglah, was honoured. The Best Scout Master award was presented to Shri Jonas K Pala from Tome Memorial Scout Troop/Sec. School, Mooralong, Jowai, and the Best Guide Captain award went to Miss Dolly Lamare of Little Angels Guide Company/Sec. School, Moosalyngkat, Jowai.

    Students performed songs, dances, and recitations to express their gratitude and appreciation for the dedication and hard work of their teachers.”
