SHILLONG: The Khasi Jaintia Deficit School Teachers’ Association (KJDSTA) has slammed the state government for its failure to release the salary of the deficit school teachers for the past three months.

In a statement issued here, president of the association Babu Khongjirem said with the SSLC result going to be out soon and teachers after having worked so hard throughout the year however are yet to receive thier salary for the last 3 months from March to May.

“This is the reward and punishment of the Education Department of Megh for the hard working teachers. Students, parents and gaurdians may enjoy and get excited after the SSLC results but poor teachers will be in a pity condition as no salary have been paid by the government so far,” he said.

Khongjirem also informed that a meeting of the executive committee held recently has decided to meet the Director of DSEL on May 24 to apprise him all the pending issues of the teachers.

According to him, if the government is really concerned for the welfare of teachers, they should release the 3 months salary with immediate effect.
