    The Deputy Commissioner & Chairman, District Disaster Management Authority East Jaintia Hills District, Khliehriat has directed the Project Director, National Highway Authority of India (NHAI), Meghalaya, Shillong to take immediate Restorative Measures of the bridges along National Highway No.6

    The direction was issued on receipt of report regarding the dilapidated conditions of bridges along the NH-6 at Tongseng Village, Sonapyrdi Village, Pyrtakuna Village, Umkiang Village, and Rattacherra Village under Lumshnong C&RD Block which can pose an imminent danger to the General Public and for Public Transport.

    In order to safeguard Commuters, Vehicles and General Public commuting along the said National Highway from any “Untoward Incident”, the General Public, Commuters and Drivers are advised to take necessary precautions and to obey the Traffic Regulations while crossing through the said Bridges in order to avoid any untoward incident till completion of works by the concerned Department of NH-6.
