Day 8 of VKSA: Meghalaya farmers gain key agricultural insights

On the 8th day of the VKSA campaign, Meghalaya KVKs successfully conducted programs across 26 villages and 16 blocks, engaging 7,336 participants. Held on June 6, 2025, the campaign’s success was driven by direct interaction between scientists, KVK experts, departmental officials, and farmers, fostering knowledge exchange on modern agricultural practices and tailored solutions.
Technical sessions covered diverse topics including orchard management, new crop varieties, biopesticides, nutrient and disease management, organic farming, agroforestry, climate-resilient cultivation, and smart farming with ICT tools. Farmers also received insights into sustainable agricultural practices, environmental conservation, and community empowerment.
Extension literature on improved farming techniques, organic management, crop diversification, and livestock management was widely distributed. Additionally, farmers were informed about various government schemes supporting agriculture and rural development, including crop insurance, PM KISAN, soil health, subsidy programs, organic certification, and irrigation initiatives.
To aid the upcoming Kharif season, farmers received quality seeds of vegetables, rice, and millets, along with Arecanut saplings.
