Cyclone Remal forces school closure in East Khasi Hills

The Deputy Commissioner and Chairman of the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), East Khasi Hills District, Shillong, SC Sadhu, issued an order on Monday for the closure of all schools in the district on May 28.

The order stated, ‘In view of Cyclone Remal, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather warning stating extremely heavy rainfall with strong winds in East Khasi Hills District wef 27-05-2024 to 28-05-2024. Therefore, to avoid any untoward incidents, all schools under East Khasi Hills District shall remain closed on 28-05-2024.'”
