    Curfew has been re-imposed in the state capital and Sohra civil sub-division in view of the prevailing law and order situation. 

    East Khasi Hills district magistrate Matsiewdor War Nongbri has under section 144 CrPC promulgated curfew in Shillong agglomeration and its adjoining areas with effect from 9 pm on March 1 to 6 am on March 2. 

    The areas to be under curfew are whole of Municipal area, whole of Cantonment area, all areas under Mawlai and Mawpat Block including their census towns, areas under Mylliem Block from Umshyrpi bridge upto 7 mile, Upper Shillong, Madanrting, Mawblei, Laitkor, Nongkseh, Umlyngka, Lawsohtun, Mawdiangdiang, Diengiong and Seijiong.   

    The district magistrate added that the curfew imposed in areas under Lumdiengjri and Sadar police stations and entire Cantonment Beat House with effect from 8 am of March 1, will still continue till 6 am on March 2. 

    Meanwhile, the sub divisional magistrate of Sohra Civil Sub Division has under Section 144 CrPC, promulgated curfew in whole areas under Sohra Civil Sub Division agglomeration and adjoining areas falling under Sohra Police Station with effect from 1 pm on March 1 to 8 am on March 2 and will be promulgated again from 6 pm on March 2 and until further orders. 

    According to the sub divisional magistrate however, the indefinite curfew is promulgated in all border areas under Shella Police Station, Tyllap Police Outpost and Bholaganj Police Check Post from 1 pm on March 1 and until further orders.
