    East Khasi Hills district magistrate, Matsiewdor War Nongbri has promulgated curfew in the Shillong agglomeration and adjoining areas with effect from 6 am of April 3 to 6 am of April 6.

    In her order issued on Thursday, Nongbri said that the areas to be under curfew include whole of municipal area, whole of cantonment area, all areas under Mawlai block including census town, Mawpat block including census towns, Mylliem block from Umshyrpi bridge up to 7th mile, Upper Shillong, Madanrting, Mawblei, Laitkor, Nongkseh, Umlyngka, Lawsohtun, Mawdiangdiang, Diengiong, Siejiong.

    The order will not affect the arrangement of fair price shops and identified local retailers which shall open as per a schedule which will be released from time to time, she said.

    Meanwhile, the order will not apply to security forces, medical team on duty, wholesale & retail pharmacies, police and armed forces, fire & emergency service, MeECL & Power grid, FCI, PWD, PHE and other essential services.
