    An armed forces personnel was tested positive for COVID-19 on Friday, taking the total of active cases to 5 in the state.

    “One Armed Forces Personnel who came from Bihar has tested positive for COVID19 in Shillong. Person is under quarrantine.

    Total Cases 48

    Total Active Cases 5,” Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma has tweeted. 

    This also came after a resident of a village in Ri Bhoi district was also tested positive for COVID-19 after returning from Assam.

    Health Minister AL Hek informed that the patient was working as a driver of a vehicle for supplying milk, in Guwahati for two months. He came back to the state on June 24.

    “The patient is asymptomatic and is undergoing quarantine,” he said.

    He said a total 42 of 47 positive patients have recovered from the COVID-19 infection.

    Hek further informed that over 17,741 of 18,037 samples sent for testing were found to be negative while test results of 250 are awaited.
