    The Malangkona police outpost in West Khasi Hills district has been temporarily closed down after a police official was tested positive for COVID-19 on Wednesday.

    Assistant Inspector General of Police (A), GK Iangrai said around 72 police officials were tested by rapid antigen test (RAT) out of which only one came out positive during a random test conducted by the medical team from Riangdo PHC at Malangkona village.

    He said on being tested positive the police official was immediately placed under medical observation and the other officials of Malangkona outpost have also been placed under mandatory quarantine.

    As a precautionary and preventive measure, the AIGP informed that the Malangkona outpost has been temporarily closed with immediate effect and necessary protocols are being observed in disinfecting the outpost premises.

    He also requested the general public residing within the jurisdiction of the Malangkona outpost to approach Aradonga outpost for necessary assistance and for official works, until the Malangkona outpost has been declared as fit for re-occupation.
