    East Khasi Hills District Magistrate, Isawanda Laloo (IAS), has issued an order in accordance with the order issued by the Home (Political) Department of the Government of Meghalaya, in view of the rapid rise of Covid-19 cases in the District, on April 22.

    The order stated that Shillong Urban Agglomeration in particular, shops and vendors listed below shall remain closed from April 26th to May 2nd 2021:

    1. Computer stores and repair shops17. Home Appliance
    2. Stationery and Books Stalls18. Sewing, Craft and Novelty shops
    3. Automobile Showroom & Car Wash Units19. Home Furnishing
    4. Gift shops20. Flower shops
    5. Furniture shops21. Mattress & Quilt shops
    6. Photo Studios22. Emporiums
    7. Clothes & garments23. Electronic Items
    8. Musical Instruments24. Nail Salons
    9. Textiles25. Kitchen appliances including crockery
    10. Sports Equipment including Cycle shops26. Tattoo studios
    11. Tailoring shops27. Watches & Clocks
    12. Dry Cleaners28. Spas
    13. Footwear29. Dance Studios
    14. Bridal shops30. Driving Schools
    15. Ornaments31. Cosmetic shops
    16. Toy shops

    According to the order, any violation will be met with strict action under the Meghalaya Epidemic Diseases, Cocid-19 Regulations, 2020.

    It may be mentioned that Shillong Urban Agglomeration includes whole of Municipal area, whole of Cantonment area, all areas under Mawlai C&RD Block including Census Towns, Mawpat C&RD Block including Census Towns, Mylliem C&RD Block from Umshyrpi Bridge upto 7th Mile, Upper Shillong including Madanrting, Mawblei, Laitkor, Nongkseh, Umlyngka and Lawsohtun.
