Twelve more persons have been tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday taking the total number of active cases in the state to 271.

Health Minister Alexander L Hek told reporters that the new cases reported include 10 from BSF and 2 from NEIGRIHMS.

He said the state now has a total of 271 active cases. These include 236 in East Khasi Hills, 20 in Ri Bhoi, 9 in West Garo Hills, 2 in East Jaintia Hills, 2 in South Garo Hills and 1 in North Garo Hills.

“A total of 182 of 236 are from BSF and 2 from Air Force while 52 others are civilians,” Hek said.

Asked, Director of Health Services (MI) Dr Aman War said that 10 of 52 persons tested positive for COVID-19 are related to the wedding party at Greenwood Resort, Guwahati while the others are returnees. “Contact tracing is going on all over town and giving the exact number of high risk contacts at this point of time is impossible,” Dr War stated.
