    To put in place preventive measures to take more stringent steps to ensure social distancing so the pandemic of COVID-19 does not spread to West Jaintia Hills District and Meghalaya, by way of ensuring observance of strict protocols of the Advisories issued by Government of Meghalaya in the Health & Family Welfare Department, the District Magistrate West Jaintia Hills District, Jowai in an ordered issued on 13th April, 2020 has under section 144 CrPC read together with Regulation 3 of the Meghalaya Epidemic Diseases, COVID-19 Regulations 2020  promulgated curfew in the whole District from  6 Am of 14th April, 2020 Until further Order

    The District Magistrate has imposed restriction on assembly or gathering of 5 (five) or more persons in public area and premises beyond the individual households. Operation of public and private transport. Operation of all market and commercial establishments in West Jaintia Hills District.

    However, this Order will not affect the arrangement of Fair Price Shops and identified local Retailers including groceries and essential shops, vegetable, fruits, meat and confectionery shops which shall open as per a schedule which will be released from time to time.

    The Local Headman (Rangbah Shnongs) in coordination with District Police will regulate the operation of the shops in their respective villages and to also ensure due compliance to the Advisories of Government in the Health & Family Welfare Department with special and strict reference to Social Distancing concerning the COVID-19 situation.

    The District Magistrate requested the public to strictly maintain Social Distancing of at least I metre, not to overcrowd in one area shop and to cooperate with the management made by the District Administration, District Police and Headman.

    All Areas within the jurisdiction of Thadlaskein C&RD Block, Amlarem C&RD Block and Laskein C&RD Block will be affected. 

    However the order will not be applicable to:

    Security Forces.

    Medical Teams on duty,

    Wholesale & Retail Pharmacies.

    Police and Armed Force, Fire & Emergency Service, 

    MeECL and Power Grid 

    Food & Civil Supplies Department, FCI,

    Public Works Department (PWD),  

    Public health Engineering (PHE),

    A.H. & Vety. Department and Meghalaya Directorate of Dairy Development,

    Telecom, Telegraph, Communications & IT Services, Telecom, print and electronic media,

    Bank and treasuries.

    Petrol Pumps.

    Movement of fodder and animal products with PASSES to be issued by the District AH &Vety Officer Essential Services including Health Services, LPG Deliveries, online food delivery, online delivery and postal services.

    Also movement of vehicles carrying essential commodities, security forces, medical equipment & good vehicles with valid passes are also exempted. However, Drivers and attendants ot the vehicles shall be subjected to medical screening as per laid down protocols


    The order will not affect the arrangement of Fair Price Shops/identified local retailers/ Groceries shops which shall open as scheduled on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday from 9 AM to 2 PM and identified Wholesalers on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday respectively. Shops related to Agriculture and Animal Husbandry activities as identified by the District Agriculture Officer will be opened on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday from 9 AM to 2 PM and Farmers are to follow precautions and safety measures to prevent spread of the disease including social distancing of 1 metre.
