In view of spike in COVID-19 positive cases, East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner on Monday revised the timing of the night curfew in the entire district from 8 pm to 5 am daily with a view to restrict all non-essential movement and ensure that there is no unnecessary mingling of people either in private or in public.

The DC in her order said that it has however been seen that many vehicles without Curfew Passes are plying during this time.

Further, there are some incidents detected of misuse of Essential passes including those of government departments, she said. Henceforth strict action will be taken against people who ply during Curfew hours without valid Curfew Passes/Essential Duty Passes or who misuse any passes.
