  • Cook cum helpers demand Centre to enhance honorarium to Rs 5000

    The Union of Cook cum Helpers PM Poshan, Meghalaya Monday demanded the Centre to enhance the monthly honorarium of the cook cum helpers to Rs 5,000 from the central share.

    Addressing media persons, president of the union Banalist Syiem informed that a memorandum in this regard has been submitted to the Secretary of the Education Ministry recently.

    Over 20,000 cook cum helpers are currently getting a monthly honorarium of Rs 2000 of which Rs 900 comes from the central share and Rs 1100 from the state share.

    “Therefore, in our memorandum submitted to the education secretary of the Government of India on January 23, we have requested the Centre to consider enhancing the monthly honorarium of the cook cum helper,” she said.

    When asked, Adviser of the union KL Pariat said that the union is demanding the government to enhance the monthly honorarium from Rs 900 to Rs 5,000.

    He said the state government had already considered enhancing the honorarium from Rs 100 to Rs 1000 about a year ago.

    Pariat informed that the secretary of the education ministry had assured the delegation to look into the issue with utmost sincerity.
