    The District Magistrate, West Jaintia Hills Garod LSN Dykes in an order issued on Tuesday has extended the period of containment zone in seven villages under Amlarem Sub-Division, West Jaintia Hills District till August 1 in order to effectively complete the contact tracing of all high-risk and low-risk contacts of the index cases.

    The order prohibited unregulated entry and exit movement to the seven villages including Amlarem, Krangpamtdong, Amsarim, Ladjaplem, Amshipai, Lai Lyngdoh and Amlatdoh with effect from 6.00 AM of 29th July, 2020 to 6.00 Am of 1st August, 2020.

    The order issued was by the district magistrate Garod LSN Dykes on the recommendation of the health department.

    “It has become necessary to contain the disease within a defined geographic area by early detection, breaking the chain of transmission and thus preventing its spread to new areas. And also to enable the Health & Family Welfare Department to trace the contacts and active search for cases through physical house to house surveillance by special teams,” the order said.

    No person and public are allowed to move into the containment area and inhabitants within the containment area shall not move out, except for medical emergencies and essential goods and services.

    Gatherings, events, functions whatsoever of any nature and forms are not allowed.

    All shopping establishments of whatsoever nature are to close immediately.

    Any unauthorized entry and exit into the notified Containment Zone is barred till the area is declared safe as per guidelines of Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India.

    The order also states that any violation of the order will entail prosecution under the penal provision of section 51 (b) of the Disaster Management Act, 2005 read with section 188 IPC.
